As a service to you, the Lafayette Public Library subscribes to a wide variety of on-line databases that contain information on a variety of subjects.  To access the databases from home, you will need to enter your library bar code number (found on your library card) when prompted.  Otherwise, select a database from the list below.

Alphabetic Listing of Databases

Ancestry.com Library Edition – Online source of genealogical and historical information, consists of over 1.2 billion records in over 3,000 databases.

Auto Repair Reference Center: Contains complete automotive repair information supplied by Nichols Publishing, publisher of Chilton automotive repair manuals. The step-by-step procedures are written for the Do-It-Yourselfer but are comprehensive enough for professional technicians. Auto Repair Reference Center contains information on most major manufacturers of domestic and imported vehicles, with repair information for most vintage makes starting as far back as 1954. Career Cruising:  A comprehensive career guide designed for individual, self-directed use, suitable for people from age 11 to adulthood.

Consumer Health Complete: Health news and reports as well as drug information and alternative health sources. (EBSCO database)

EBSCOhost Web : Provides full text and citations of journal articles and periodicals covering nearly all subjects including general reference, science, business, law, education and health.

Facts On File Online Information dealing with African-American history and culture, middle school, high school, and junior college curriculum, geography, and careers.

Global Road Warrior : In-depth cultural, business, and travel information on 175 countries.

Heritage Quest- Online genealogical database pulling information from a variety of genealogical sources.

Homework Louisiana – HomeworkLouisiana offers FREE online tutoring and academic resources from Tutor.com for Louisiana residents.

Infotrac General Reference Gold- Database of journal articles for middle school and high school. (subset of Infotrac Onefile)

Infotrac Onefile- a comprehensive periodical resource of both peer reviewed and non-peer reviewed journal articles. Includes full text of the New York Times.

Kids Search: School subject reference information for kids grades kindergarten through 8. (EBSCO database)

Learning Express Library – A comprehensive, interactive online learning platform of practice tests and tutorial course series designed to help patrons.

Literary Reference Center: Literary reference that contains timeline, dictionary, encyclopedia and database access to criticisms. (EBSCO database)
