The Lafayette Public Library works with the IRS to increase the availability of federal tax forms and publications by providing free tax products for the public at all library branches. We receive paper copies of the most commonly used forms and instruction booklets; many other forms and publications can be downloaded or printed from the IRS website,  http://www.irs.gov/formspubs/index.html and may be subject to printing costs.

STATE OF LOUISIANA

The Louisiana Department of Revenue no longer mails tax booklets to individuals;  forms for full-time residents of Louisiana are available at the library.

Local offices

The IRS maintains many local Tax Assistance Centers where the public may obtain personal tax help to resolve a problem or ask questions about how the tax law applies to their individual tax returns. No appointment is necessary.

 FREE ONLINE TAX FILING

Many websites offer free electronic federal tax filing for individuals who have earned less than a certain amount in the tax year.  State filing is often available for an extra charge.
