Services for Disabled & Homebound Patrons

Many library services for blind or disabled patrons are provided free of charge through the State Library of Louisiana’s Talking Books and Braille Program. For more information on services and qualifications, please contact the State Library of Louisiana.

Vision impaired:

All locations of the library have Large Print (Type) collections of popular titles in hardback and paperback. All locations have audiobooks.

A wide range of E-books can be downloaded from our Overdrive service. Fonts can then be enlarged on a patron’s personal reading device for easy reading. E-audiobooks can also be downloaded from this same service.

We can also bring our Library services to the following:

• Home-bound patrons
• Nursing Homes
• Senior Centers
• Institutions
• Rehabilitation Centers

Home-bound – Outreach Services staff delivers books, audiobooks, and DVDs every three weeks.

Senior Centers, Nursing & Retirement Homes, Institutions and Rehabilitation Centers – The library provides a once a month deposit collection of books, audiobooks, and DVDs.

Books-by-Mail – The library provides materials to the home-bound through the mail in a returnable postage paid mail bag.

Call 261-5757 for more information on applying for any of these services.
