100 Days of Reading Summer Challenge 2023: Reading Brings Us Together

How many days can you read this summer? Find out by joining the 100 Days of Reading Summer Challenge! The Lafayette Public Library challenges you to read at least 20 minutes every day from June 1st to September 8th (World Literacy Day), and the best part is, it doesn’t matter what you read—books, audiobooks, magazines, graphic novels, and more all count.

Anyone who reads at least 30 days during this time will be eligible for a prize pack and entered for a chance to win the grand prize. But you don’t have to stop there—the more days you read, the more you can win! Earn bonus prizes at the 50, 75, and 100 day mark, as well as extra entries for the grand prize drawing. Register online and track your reading at lafayettepubliclibrary.org/beanstack, download the Beanstack app to a smartphone or tablet, or click here to download the Reading Log as a PDF.

South Regional Library will host the Summer Reading Kickoff Celebration on Saturday, June 3 from 10:30 am until 2:30 pm. You’ll have the opportunity to sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge and to enjoy a day of family fun. There will be a fun jump, petting zoo, balloon artist, face painting, and live performances by Mitch the Magician (11:00 AM & 2:00 PM). The Friends of the Library will have a dunk tank! Adults that donate at least one dollar can try to “Dunk the Director!”; kids get a free throw. Some proceeds go to Library Staff Association.

Summer Reading Challenge Sponsors include Friends of the Lafayette Public Library, Broussard, David & Moroux, Hub City Cycles, Acadian Kitchens, Baskin Robbins, Bonne Vie Macarons, Chick-fil-A, Chicken Salad Chick, Fun Nation, Izzo’s Illegal Burrito, Jason’s Deli, Kart Ranch Pizza Artista, and Rock n’ Bowl. Kickoff Celebration Sponsors include Acadiana FunJumps, Louisiana Warrior Hockey, and Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers.

There are so many ways that Reading Brings Us Together—whether you take part in a book club, read chapter books to your children, or even listen to a narrator read your favorite audiobook.

We hope that you discover reading enriches your life! For more information about our Summer Reading Challenge and Kickoff Celebration, call your favorite library location.
