Ever Wanted to Try a Musical Instrument?
Note: This service is exclusive to the Chenier Branch. Instruments include guitars, keyboards, accordions, and more.
Check-Out Rules:
- No Holds: Check availability in the online catalog. Call the Chenier Branch at (337) 291-2941 to reserve.
- Check-Out/Return Times: Monday-Thursday: 10:30 am - 2:00 pm ; 3:00 - 6:00 pm
Friday: 9:15 am - 1:00 pm ; 2:00 - 5:30 pm - Call for special arrangements.
- Age & Library Card: Must be 16+ and have a good standing library card.
- Limit: One instrument per checkout.
- Duration: 28 days, no renewals.
- Late Fee: $1.00 per day, 3-day grace period. Fines accrue from the original due date if late.
- Responsibility: Signing a lending agreement and providing current contact info. You're responsible for any loss, theft, or damage.
- In-Person Return: Return to the Chenier Branch and check in with staff. No book drop returns or returns at other locations.
Origin of the M.I.Brary:
- The Idea: Dr. Ryan Cazares' team pitched this unique concept at Civicside’s 24-hour Citizen Project in July 2017.
- Vision: Providing access to musical instruments to uncover potential talents in the community.
- Funding: Start-up funds granted to stock an assortment of instruments.
