Summer Reading Program 2013
Children | Teens | Adults 100 Book Club
Children’s Program
It’s time to Dig Into Reading with our Summer Reading Program. Children up to 13 years old can join the Dig Into Reading program beginning Monday, May 20 at any Lafayette Public Library location. They will participate in free programs like storytelling, crafts, music, puppetry and more. Prizes will be awarded at two levels, based on the number of minutes the child has read. Top prizes include a dinosaur rubber duckie and a chance to win a grand prize bicycle!
Children can log their reading minutes on an official reading record from their library or online. The reading record has 50 reading ovals that each represent 10 minutes of reading. For instance, if the child reads for 30 minutes, he or she may color in three reading ovals. Younger children may participate by counting the minutes that someone reads to them. When children have read (or listened to) a total of 250 minutes, they will earn the Level 1 prizes. At 500 minutes, the children will win the Level 2 prizes and be entered in the grand prize drawing!
