Smooth Sailing to the 2,000,000 Minute Community Goal

Lafayette Public Library readers have done it once again! The Library challenged its patrons to read and record 2,000,000 minutes from June 1 to July 31, 2022. In that time, patrons recorded 2,032,636 minutes read towards the community goal. That means that more than 3,300 people read more than 600 minutes each. Congratulations and thanks to all ages that participated in the Summer Reading Challenge!

Those that recorded more than 600 minutes by July 31 may claim a prize at any library location. There will also be a grand prize announced on social media. Prize sponsors include Bike Lafayette, Broussard & David LLC, Chick-fil-A, Hub City Cycles, Kart Ranch, Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, and Tropical Smoothie Café.

Children in 6th grade and below are encouraged to continue reading this summer and to participate in the Ragin’ Readers Challenge. The Louisiana Athletics reading program partnered once again with the LPL Summer Reading Challenge to remind students of the importance of reading during the summer. For details, visit
