Adult Grab & Go Crafts

Swing by a Lafayette Public Library drive-thru (Main Library and all Regional Libraries) and pick up a bag full of fun! Grab & Go bags will include all the supplies you’ll need plus instructions and an instructional YouTube video link! Recommended for adults.  No registration necessary; available while supplies last. 

 

 

Autumn Shadow Box (September 20 – September 26): Create a mixed media artwork by gluing old book pages to a recycled food try. Add acorns, faux fall leaves, a card stock fairy, and a quote to complete the craft. Ages 14 & up.

DIY Macrame Keychains (September 20 – September 26): Learn how to transform simple materials into a super cute macrame rainbow charm. Ages 14 & up.

Woven Paper Hot Air Balloon (September 27 – October 3): Make a little hanging hot air balloon out of woven paper. Ages 18 & up.

Articulated Finger Extensions (October 4 – October 10): Build creepy extensions that you can place over your fingers and control! The Main Library Makerspace provides the parts and instructions for you to build these nifty gadgets at home! Ages 14 & up. Available at the Main Library only.

Paper Roll Pumpkins (October 4 – October 10): Make a cute fall pumpkin centerpiece using repurposed items. Ages 18 & up.

Cute or Creepy Fall Hanging (October 11 – October 17): Design a decorative hanging from chipboard and special paper. Transfer and watercolor your designs, wire together, and display! Ages 14 & up.

DIY Herb Garden - Swing by East Regional Library to grab a DIY Herb Garden Kit, complete with seeds, soil, label stakes, and a pot. Kits can be picked up starting Monday, October 12 at East Regional only. Please register in advance.

Fall/Halloween Plaque (October 18 – October 24): Make a fantastic wooden plaque at home with a vinyl stencil made with the library’s Makerspace equipment. We provide the wood and stencil, and you provide the paint. Ages 18 & up. Available at the Main, North Regional, and South Regional Libraries only. 

Fabricadabra: Hand Sewn Felt Sugar Skulls (October 25 – October 31): Learn the “magic” of everyday sewing skills while working on different projects. This Grab & Go will be a small stuffed sugar skull that will be hand sewn using embroidery floss. Available at the Main and South Regional Libraries only.

Tissue Paper Flowers: Learn how to transform simple materials into happy home decor! Create a unique floral display out of tissue paper, pipe cleaners, and a cardboard tube.

Imagination Plaque: Make a fantastic wooden plaque at home with a vinyl stencil made with the library’s Makerspace equipment. We provide the wood and stencil, you provide the paint to add the perfect colors to the design. Only available at Main, South Regional, and North Regional Libraries.

Fabricadabra!: Fabric Pictures: Make a “framed picture” using fabric squares, appliques, and a little hand embroidery (basic sewing/sewing machine knowledge is required). All supplies included. Only available at Main and South Regional Libraries. 

Crafting for a Cause: We’ll provide card stock, cutouts, glitter, and yarn, and you provide creativity to make a card to lift someone’s spirits. Give your card to someone you know or return it to the West Regional Library, and we’ll hand them out to residents of local nursing homes. This craft is inspired by CardzforKidz organization.

Paper Quilled Earrings: paper quilling is an art technique using strips of paper that are rolled and shaped into designs. Learn simple paper quilling techniques to make an elegant pair of earrings.

Personalized Glass Magnets: Create your own decorative refrigerator magnets using clear stones, an image of your choice, glue, and magnets.

Fabricadabra: Mask Up with LPL!: Learn the “magic” of everyday sewing skills while working on different projects. This Grab & Go will be a simple mask with ties. Available at the Main and South Regional Libraries only. 

Aged Journal: Ever wanted to make your own aged, vintage journal? Pick up a starter kit from our Main Library Makerspace to assemble and decorate at home! Ages 14 & up. Available at the Main Library only.
